El Chalequito Blanco
Soooo, Libertad wanted a Chalequito Blanco. (For the non Spanish speakers here, this means she wanted a white vest!)
The thing is, we were living for a couple of months in the Faroe Islands, and we had already experimented with Vegan Yarn-Making last time we were there (click here if you're interested!).
So we decided to do it again !
100% homemade, 100% vegan, 100% Faroese Wool !
The thing is, there are Sheep everywhere in the Faroes. Like, everywhere. They live in the mountains, in the plains, quite freely actually. And they are loosing quite a bit of Wool.
We only had to bend down and pick up loose wool wherever we were walking, quite literally.
Once we had collected enough of the raw material, we started the whole process to change it into Yarn.

We washed it, put it to dry, combed it, started spinning it (with a wooden spoon!) (and it took us weeks).
All the while collecting some more here and there, just in case there would not be enough for the Chalequito blanco.
Next steps in the process include fixating the spin with hot water, and making it into a Yarn ball.
Then it's knitting time !
Since Etienne did most of the spinning (and since he doesn't knit very well), this was Libertad's job for a while !
We actually started knitting in the Faroes, continued in Denmark, and had to send it to France not to carry it on the bikes during our cycling trip, to finally finish it in Paris, just in time for Winter !
Drying wool on a boat... a humid.... wet.... boat.... very good.....
So now Libertad has a beautiful, white, homemade Chalequito Blanco. And we are very happy about it.
