Dansk Musik
We've been listening to a lot of danish music these years, actually.
Etienne has been working in a danish restaurant / party place for years, where they were playing all the classics, from Thomas Helmig to TV-2, but also Bamses Venner, Johnny Madsen, Teddy Edelmann, Lars Lilholt, Tommy Seebach, Otto Brandenburg, Rocazino...
Two artists need here to be cited by themselves : Kim Larsen, probably the most well known artist in recent danish history, and John Mogensen, one of 60's and 70's danish folk music's biggest names.
They both had (and still have) a huge influence on danish music.
One of the other big danish bands we like and had the chance to see live is Shu-bi-dua, a rock/poprock classic band that notably re-wrote a lot of songs covered in danish.
Speaking about live music, Etienne's first danish concert was Birthe Kjær, a (quite kitsh) 80's danish pop legend. But not any concert, her first concert in Christiania ever! It was absolutely great.

And now that we are in Christiania (the micronation / alternative / semi-autonomous district of Copenhagen), it feels appropriate to mention the hip-hop/ska singer Natasja, whose tribute picture can be seen in Pusher Street. She died in a car crash in 2007.
We can cite other danish rappers like the very popular Nik & Jay or Tobias Rahim, more contemporary.
Other more contemporary and popular bands include The Minds of 99, Blæst, Scarlet Pleasure (which was featured in the 2020 T. Vinterberg film Druk). Our friend's band Ecstasy in Order too.
Given the soft spot Etienne has for folkloric music, we also have to mention some lesser known musicians and bands like Virelai, Andreas Tophøj, Asynje, or the Scandinavian band Huldrelokkk.
Finally, let's never forget that Barbie Girl was made by a danish band : Aqua.
Yes, that's it, danish music is and always was basically Barbie Girl, actually.
