About the Recipe
There's many recipes to make "proper gløgg". This is not one of them. But it tasted delicious.

Ingredients
2 bottles of Red Wine (we took a shiraz last time but up to you)
Portwine (+/- 30 cl)
Kummen Aquavit (+/- 30 cl)
If you don't have Aquavit, put vodka instead but it's less good
Cardamom (4-5 pieces)
Cinnamon (4-5 sticks)
Star Anises (not too much, well depends if you like anis actually)
Cloves (5-6)
Orange slices and zest (4-5 pieces)
Raisins
Almonds
Honey (unconventional & non-vegan)
A little bit of Cognac
Preparation
Step 1
Put the liquids in a pot, and bring to simmer temperature. Basically, it has to be very warm but not boiling, otherwise all the alcohol will evaporate.
Step 2
Peel the oranges, put the zest in the pot. Then the rest of the orange slices. It will give more taste.
Step 3
Put all the spices in the pot! Cinnamon sticks, Cardamom, Star Anises, Cloves, everything!
Step 3 alternative
I've seen recipes where people boil the spices in water on the side first, before incorporating the mix to the pot. I guess it makes sense, since they would give more aroma this way without evaporating the alcohol.. But we never tried it though.
Step 4
On the side, make a mix of raisins and almonds, add a little bit of Cognac to it.
Step 5 (optional, unconventional, non-vegan)
You can add Honey if you feel the Gløgg isn't sweet enough. Why not ?
Step 6
Let it rest a bit, keep it warm.
Step 7
Put the mixture of almonds and raisins in a nice mug, serve the Gløgg on top, and enjoy!
